How to Reset a Skoda Key
I just got a message that my infotainment unit is low on battery and has to be replaced. It's not the first time, and last time I went to a dealer they just replaced it at no cost, took 2 mins and said it would be working again.

If your car key stops working, it may take some time for a professional to reprogramme it. In a lot of instances the EEPROM is scanned to determine the unique code of the car. This is a risky process, and there's a chance of corrupting the information inside the module. This is why it's better to leave it to an experienced locksmith.
An EEPROM is a non-volatile memory used in a variety of electronic devices, including car keys. It stores information, including the unique encryption keys or authentication codes that are recognised by your car when you use the key to lock or start it. These codes are crucial because they notify your car that you are the owner of the key and have permission to drive.
If your EEPROM is damaged, the keys will not work. skoda keys is caused by pressing the wrong key or accidentally hitting the wrong key. There are three distinct hex values that are the KEY_CODE, key_count and the V_ARG_ENABLED. To "virginize" the chip, you must change all other hex values from 00. After you've done this, you can then flash the chip to restore its function.
Ignition Method
This method involves activating the car's system using a second key. It does not work on all cars however it should be able to reset the key fob in case it's not functioning properly or the battery is dying. It should work if have tried pressing the buttons repeatedly (people often attempt to press the unlock button repeatedly).

To apply this method, turn on the ignition and then leave it on. Then make sure that the driver's door is locked of the car using another key. Then, place the key fob in the lock position and point it to the transmission transmitter located on the front of the vehicle, above the mirror. Press and hold the unlock button for a few seconds. The horn will sound and the key fob will begin to function.
If the skoda key isn't functioning, the transmitter inside may have been damaged or not synchronized with the vehicle's anti-theft system. This will require reprogramming. A locksmith technician or auto locksmith can assist you with this.
If the key fob won't function after reprogramming it, it could be that the car "forgot" the key in the event that the car was not used for 6 months. Even the older keyless entry systems come with an old-fashioned backup. If the remote doesn't work however, you can manually open the door to the driver. This can be done by sliding the blade or, in some models, by pressing a button in the pocket. This is especially helpful if you've lost your key or if the battery has gone out.
Remote Control Method
If you've recently purchased an entirely new remote control but it doesn't function in your car, it's likely that the seller did not program it to work with your vehicle. You may also find that the battery terminals have come loose. They will appear to be loose and then soldered in. Soldering them back in place will bring back the full functionality. If you're not confident with this kind of repair, consult a professional auto technician.
Turn off the ignition, and then lock the vehicle from within with a second key that is not matched (this will reset memory position 1). Enter channel "01" (may be channel "21" in some Audi models). Insert the new key fob into the door to the driver's side and then press its unlock button twice in 5 minutes (often enough to reach the next memory position).
Repeat this procedure for up 4 additional remote controls. Make sure you switch off the ignition between programming each remote. You should hear a sound each time you successfully program the remote.
